On Thursday, June 12, we will have talks in the morning.  After lunch, there will be two options for an excursion.

Architecture River Boat Tour

The Chicago Architecture Foundation offers a 90-minute Chicago River Tour www.architecture.org.  The cruise will take us up three branches of the Chicago River while an Architecture Foundation docent interprets the world-class architecture along the river.  The cruise will take place rain or shine.

After the Boat Tour, we will be within walking distance of the Tribune Tower and the Wrigley Building.  A few blocks walk takes you to Millennium Park, home of Cloudgate (The Bean).  You may also choose to check out North Michigan Avenue (The Magnificent Mile), home of many shops, the historic Chicago Water Tower, and the the John Hancock Center.  On South Michigan Avenue, The Art Institute  of Chicago is scheduled to be free to the public starting at 5:00 P.M. on June 12.  A short taxi takes you to Navy Pier or the Museum Campus, featuring The Field Museum, John G. Shedd Aquarium, and Adler Planetarium.

Cubs Baseball

There are also a limited number of tickets available for the Chicago Cubs vs. Atlanta Braves game at historic Wrigley Field.  The game starts at 1:20.

Dining Options

If you choose to take in the baseball game, then you should find a dinner spot near the park in the neighborhood known as Wrigleyville.  The conference will not pay for your meal.  There are also a number of theaters and clubs in Wrigleyville.  Frequent CTA trains run to the CSU campus well into the evening.

For those choosing the Boat Tour, we will make reservations at several restaurants near the boat landing. The conference, however, will not pay for your meal. Commuter trains run to the CSU campus each hour.
